Asus ROG Flow X13 (2022): Review of gaming laptop that converts into t
Author : Yusha RahmanAsus recently launched the ROG Flow X13 (2022) in India. This is a premium hybrid gaming laptop, which is being sold at a starting price of Rs. 1,14,990. At this cost, it offers a Ryzen 9 6900HS variant with an Nvidia RTX 3050ti GPU and 32 GB of RAM. While this may look quite expensive when compared to other laptops with the same features and a lower price. However, most of these low cost laptops lack the portability and flexibility of the Flow X13. The Flow X13, along with the 360-degree hinge, offers outstanding I/O performance, a decent 120 Hz display, quick storage rates, and more.
In this article, we will give you a detailed review of the Asus ROG Flow X13 (2022) so that you can make a conscious choice about buying or not buying the laptop.
Portability:
As previously stated, it is one of the most portable gaming laptops, with a 13.4-inch IPS LCD display. You can choose between a 120Hz WUXGA display or a 60Hz 4K panel. The device also has a thin and light frame with a compact size that can easily fit in your backpack. It also weighs 1.3 kg and is thus easy to carry anywhere.
The Flow 13 is also convertible, so you can transform it into a tablet by rotating the display on its hinge.
Display:
The latest version of the laptop has a glossy display with a brightness of 500 nits and an aspect ratio of 16:10. Additionally, it has Pantone validation for colour accuracy and Dolby Vision certification.
The laptop also supports a 720p webcam mounted on the top of the display.
Performance:
No doubt, the performance of the laptop is smooth. With a high configuration, you can multitask and switch between games and other high configurations applications quickly.
However, if you do not use a laptop cooling pad, heat dissipation while gaming could be a significant issue as heat attempts to exit the right side and bottom of the chassis. Furthermore, the top half of the keyboard or the upper part of the chassis may become extremely hot if you place the ROG Flox X13 directly on a table or bed while playing games.
Input devices:
The laptop also has many I/O ports. An HDMI 2.0 port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, two USB Type-C ports, a proprietary port for the XG Mobile, and a USB Type-A port are all included. Additionally, the laptop has a fingerprint scanner built into the right-side power button.
A full-size, illuminated keyboard is also included. The backlight of the keyboard is white. The evenly spaced-out keys provide a comfortable typing experience.
Sound:
The ROG FlowX13's Dolby Atmos-powered speakers produce sound clearly and with very little distortion. But even at full volume, they are not loud enough to fill a room. Therefore, it is preferable to play video games while wearing headphones.
Battery:
The battery also takes a lot of time to drain if the aptop is put on idle mode for some hours. The battery also drops down slowly if you watch a movie or do some office work. However, if you are playing games or using an application that requires a graphics card intensively, then the battery drains fast. But its 100W Type-C charger charges the laptop quickly. These chargers are also very small and light when compared to other gaming laptops.
ROG XG Mobile eGPU:
The laptop supports a ROG XG Mobile external graphics card to enhance the performance of the device. This device has a GPU that can support up to an AMD RadeonTMRX 6850M XT or up to an Nvidia RTX 3080 GPU despite being only 7% the size of typical eGPUs. The eGPU has an integrated I/O hub for your peripheral devices, giving it a true sense of portability.
The laptop comes with stylus support and touchscreen input. This implies that artists and photographers can use the device for colour correction and editing.
While one has to pay a slightly higher price, the Asus ROG Flow X13 is still an excellent option for purchasing a portable, lightweight computer that doesn't compromise performance.
